Open Thread

I thought I'd be proactive and throw up an open thread (the other one is full).

► You can post any comment you wish.

► So the polls are open for another three and half hours.

► what will you be watching? CNN, MSNBC, Fox

So far, I've only watched CNN (bland) and Fox (the GOP spokesperson looks unhappy - which for us, can only be interpreted as a positive).

► Fox is posting first wave exit polls.  Exit polls come in three waves.  Drawing conclusion from only one is highly dubious, but typical Fox (and I say that even though the first wave is favorable to Obama).

► In other news, Maxine Walters just switched her vote.

► DemConWatch says Obama's magic number down to 22. Fox says magic number down to 7. I'll go with DemCon.

Snark, this is? (2.00 / 2)

With seriousness, I ask you.

for the record, I'm excited as all hell. Still sinking in a state of disbelief. A wonderful feeling nonetheless.

In other news, what's everybody having for dinner?

Nah, real question. ;) (2.00 / 3)

I still haven't decided whether I should eat at home or go out. Maybe I should stay in to watch the news.

Dinner Menu (2.00 / 2)

Home raised pork roast, asparagus out of our garden, and a big old flagon of farmstead hard cider (vintage 2006).

I'm eating local - everything came from within a 500 foot radius) in honor of Democratic Unity.

I couldn't  afford this at the store!

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 4)

Maxine switched?

Of all the Clinton surrogates, she was my favorite, she was ALWAYS just postive about Hillary, refused to dis Obama (a few friendly pokes but nothing too hard) and she was just SO HAPPY to be a democrat in 2008!

She did Hillary proud imo

I am very glad to have her in the Obama camp, she is one hell of an asset.

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 4)

MSNBC is on in the other room with the volume WAY up.  I'm chained to my desk (with a dealine tomorrow).

Stupid report!  Can't leave my seat until Obama and/or HRC provide some speechifications.  In the interim, all the hand-wringing is driving me batty.

'Sup wit ya'll?

Re: writer? (2.00 / 1)

Not that kind.  I wish though, as music and political opinion style gonzo journalism is where my heart is.

Put the ashes of Lester Bangs and Hunter S. Thompson in a blender with the sweat of The Monks and Blind Lemon Jefferson.  Throw in two locks of hair each from Gram Parsons and Walter Lippman.  Blend.

After  Matt Taibbi chugs the concoction and pukes violently, you'll find me among the slush.

Alas, I'm an archaeologist, so I'm writing a report about 200+ shovel test probes in north central Oregon.  In which we found absolutely NOTHING.

(sigh)

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

I'm excited but I don't think it's been good for Clinton to have been stepping on the Obama victory all day.  Without the leak about conceding and the vp story, the news would have been talking about Obama's biography and how we won.  Instead, the news is a whole lot about Clinton.

Lots of crazed, paranoid things going on at hillaryis44, with a plaintive final comment as of about 6PM:

oh. wow. it's all coming apart. it's happening too quickly.

I need a break. See you all later.

We told them last night this was coming. :(

Yes, they are posting every old and new smear they can find on Obama over there to reinforce the hate the followers have for our nominee.

Very sad.

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 1)

No way I am going over there today, or to NoQuarter?

But, I am fascinated about which of the big 3 (A, L, and TD) posts a diary tonight here after the primaries close, and the networks announce Obama has crossed the threshold?

Linfar especially, I figure I going to come in with a full head of steam.....

I think you are wrong about Linfar (none / 0)

she has stressed the need for a democratic president, now TD is planning on bolting to the McCain camp.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

what will you be watching? CNN, MSNBC, Fox

I flip around

My analogy of the cable news
-------------------------------

MSNBC - The sappy pro-Obama station. Constant politicking for BO

CNN - Mixed, somewhat Pro-Obama but more news oriented and less opinionated than MSNBC

Fox - Anti-Obama and anti-Clinton, therefore probably the fairest in reference to getting an honest assessment.

by soyousay on Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 07:17:04 PM EST

I'm elated (none / 0)

Seriously.  My father who marched alongside of Dr. King was crying earlier in the kitchen.  People have no idea how this feels to some of us. I'm so, so proud and happy.  So proud.
